Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), the authorised importer of Porsche in Malaysia since 2010, has announced the debut of the new 911 Speedster via online broadcast. The unveiling of this tribute to the more than 70 years dream of Ferry Porsche recently on Porsche Malaysia’s Facebook and Instagram channels, as well as its dealer website platforms.
“We’d normally love to have our fellow enthusiasts at our Porsche Centres to have their personal look and feel of the car, but given the current circumstances, we had to change our plans slightly to share this exciting news. The 911 Speedster caused a sensation when it was presented as a concept vehicle, and we are excited to announce the launch of this limited edition heritage model on our digital platforms. We anticipate this being the new normal for the foreseeable future,” said Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.
About the new 911 Speedster
The 911 Speedster combines the aspiration of a puristic, driver-oriented vehicle with motor sports technology suitable for everyday use. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h. Featuring a high-revving 375 kW (510 hp) four-litre naturally aspirated boxer engine accompanied by a six-speed GT manual transmission, the new 911 Speedster delivers not only an emotive drive, but a thrilling auricular experience in the cockpit. Visually, the new Speedster establishes a bridge to its own history – to the forebear of all Porsche sports cars, the 356 “No. 1” Roadster from 1948, and is limited to only 1,948 units worldwide.
The new 911 Speedster can optionally be fitted with a Heritage Design package. Developed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, this reminder of the pioneering days of motorsport reinterprets classic elements from the 1950s and 1960s and takes the driver back to the roots of the Porsche brand. The two-tone leather interior package in the Heritage Design Package provides a distinct classic look to complement the historical reference of the exterior.
A more digital approach for Porsche Malaysia
Given the new normal and the current circumstances, Sime Darby Auto Performance will be placing more emphasis on digital touchpoints and contactless processes for its customers, to bring the Porsche experience to them in a safer way.
“When our premises resumed operations during the CMCO, several health and safety measures in line with government regulations were implemented to minimize the risk of transmission. Temperature checking, usage of face masks, sanitizing spray points, and constant disinfecting of touchpoints throughout the premises is standard practice. Demo and service cars also receive our full attention, with a thorough disinfection before and after each test drive, while showroom visits and test-drives are by appointment only to help maintain social distancing,” said Christopher Hunter.
He also added, “All our Porsche dealer websites now form the basis for local news, events and special sales packages, and we will continue to expand on this. Events which would normally involve larger gatherings at the dealership previously, are now becoming digital and will be streaming from this platform for the foreseeable future. New systems have also now been integrated into this platform such as our Porsche Finder tool, where customers can find their ideal Porsche from the comfort of their own home.”
